Hello, I’m Ernie Pickles, the one that can grow a beard. That’s My Human, Jay Topping.

Jay is a versatile storyteller and creative entrepreneur. He blends his deep post-production knowledge with solution-focused thinking, allowing him to tackle any obstacle head-on with unnerving calmness (but not in a serial-killer way). Jay’s passion lies in developing characters, extracting unique and authentic performances that captivate audiences. Just like me, his bio-writing dog.

Raised amidst an atmosphere of art and creativity, courtesy of his mother, Jay experimented with various mediums before finding his true calling in the film industry. After graduating, Jay was promptly recruited by Cutting Edge, where he honed his skills as an Offline editor.

After countless hours spent in dimly-lit rooms, Jay transitioned into shooting and directing VFX-centric TVC's both locally and internationally. His background in post-production and hands-on experience with live-action have shaped Jay’s versatile directing style. With an editor's eye, he instinctively finds the optimal approach to each shot.

Jay joined The Monkeys, one of Australia's leading creative agencies. As their in-house Director/DOP, where he worked closely with some of the brightest talents in Sydney's creative scene.

Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, Jay recently founded Weforge Studio to develop his debut game, Macabre, adding another creative layer to his portfolio. Similarly, Jay’s love for the environment and winter sports inspired the establishment of Lanky Bear, a sustainable ski wax company.

Jay is known for his versatility as a director, wicked sense of humour, and levelheaded thinking. With each project, he brings his multi-dimensional creativity to the forefront, continuously pushing boundaries and exploring new territories.

Woof!
